Charley + David || A Hand-Fasting Ceremony
One of the things I’ve loved most about photographing weddings over the years is just how varied and intimate they can be. Gone are the days of a bride only in a white dress walking down a church aisle vowing to honour and obey. We now profess our love and commitment through so many personal, beautiful ways and the romantic in me lives for it. I cry at every one, I really do! Love is the ultimate human experience, and it never gets lost on me, the honour of documenting two people who have truly found it. Ok, pass me the tissues! Moving on!
Charley and Dave bypassed a traditional wedding in lieu of a hand-fasting ceremony on their amazing property in Byron. They got ready together in the most intimate, beautiful way, sewing personal mementos into the binding linen and exchanging private vows prior to the ceremony. It was so personal and heartfelt and a true representation of who they were to each other. To be welcomed into such an intimate experience and to be trusted to capture the love I see there, well, it’s just really special.
Charley and Dave, you guys are the real deal and I wish you a long and beautiful life together. Thank you for having me!
